GHENT GATE ARCHITECTURE & MUSEUM

The "Gentpoort" (Ghent Gate) is one of the 4 city gates preserved from the medieval period. From 2008 onwards, the gate will house a new museum, where you can discover the story of all the city gates as well as the ramparts.

ARCHAEOLOGY MUSEUM

This museum confronts aspects of life from prehistory, the Roman period and the Middle Ages (both Early and Late) with elements of 21st-century living. Under the motto of ‘feel the past under your feet,’ you will discover the history of the city through a series of ‘do’ and ‘search’ tasks.

MUSEUM OF FOLKLORE MUSEUM & SITE

The picturesque St. Anna Quarter of the city features both the charming Museum of Folklore. Eight almshouses from the 17th century contain a collection of old objects in a series of different decors from the days of yesteryear.

LACE CENTER MUSEUM & SITE

Housed in the tastefully restored almshouses founded by the Adornes family. Lace demonstrations are frequently given, whereas in the museum-shop all materials for lace-making can be purchased.



GUIDO GEZELLE MUSEUM MUSEUM

Discover more about the work of the famous Flemish writer, Guido Gezelle, in the house where he was born. Next to the house lies a romantic garden, featuring ‘The Man Who Gives Fire’ by Jan Fabre.
